About Us

Our blueberry farm has been selected as the most succesful organic producer by ETO and FIBL - Swiss Research Institute of Agriculture. Berva, which was initially established on 50 acres of land in 2009, was expanded to 100 acres of land in three years and has become one of the largest producers of blueberries growing in Turkey, with 16.000 saplings. Natural and Ecological Cultivation

Berva, which was initially established on 50 acres of land in 2009, was expanded to 100 acres of land in three years and has become one of the largest producers of blueberries growing in Turkey, with 16.000 saplings.

The production on our lands is based on ecological concepts. Every stage of cultivation respects the ecosystem, with its environmental friendly farming practices and techniques and is appropriate to regulations of farming that preserves the land against erosion, uses our water effectively with drip irrigation technology, and contributes to biodiversity's conservation.

Our lands are surrounded with forests; the region is totally natural and ecological. It's a healthy home with its oxygen-rich fresh air, sparkling water and natural living environment.

Organic Product Certification

Our lands are certificated after yearly regular checks with "ORGANIC PRODUCTS CERTIFICATE" by TURKGAP in 2010, a certification body authorized by the Turkish Ministry of Agriculture.

All our blueberry seeds are imported certified seeds. The fertilization of saplings is effected in addition to certified organic fertilizer, with natural fertilizers which are provided from local villages. Needed mulch (barks) for plants is produced from local tree branches. Thus the transport of undesirable pests is avoided. Since there is no conventional farming in the surrounding area, no disinfectant is applied.

As a conscious producer, in order to respond to requests of national and international customers demanding organic cultivation, we are not using any chemical pesticides or artificial/chemical fertilizers in combating pests. Also due to the fact that the area is naturally protected, there is no possibility that our organic production could be affected by environmental conditions.

The health status of plants is monitored as of spring every day. Soil and leaf samples are taken at periodic intervals; the health status of the plants is archived according to analyses performed.

The technical consulting of our blueberry fields are managed by Dr. Bahar Açıksöz, academician at ETH Zürich (Eidgenössische Technische Hochschule Zürich) in the Group of Plant Nutrition.

Dr. Açıksöz completed her doctoral study in Sabancı University under supervision of plant nutritionist Prof. Dr. İsmail Çakmak, awarded by several prestigious prizes. She continued her research at ETH Institute in the Group of Plant Nutrition as a project leader. Dr. Açıksöz has contributions to plant nutrition, crop production, soil and foliar fertilization treatments and improving plant stress tolerance with several publications in respected international journals. She received first poster presentation prize in internatonal conference held in Oslo, Norway.

We are pleased and excited to announce to have Dr. Açıksöz to gain her knowledge and experience in our blueberry fıelds.
